Gibbet Hill Wedding: Brianna & Greg

Brianna & Greg’s Gibbet Hill Wedding was nothing short of a fairytale. Castle (ruins) and all. If you’ve never been to Gibbet Hill, you should change that. They’re a delicious restaurant with an awesome wedding venue on gorgeous rolling hills, often with cows grazing. An amazing spot for anyone to get married, but a no-brainer for this couple because Brianna’s mom works there!

Brianna worked at the Paper Store in high school and became good friends with her co-worker. After going through a break up, her co-worker friend suggested she date her brother, Greg. Brianna was not into that idea at all. Eventually her co-worker hosted a work party at her house and invited Brianna where she of course, met Greg! Well, they hit it off and dated for 10 years!

They didn’t discuss an engagement very much so when Greg proposed, Brianna really had no idea. He did everything without her knowing including picking out the ring. Greg’s plan was to propose on the boat at his family’s lake house the night of the 3rd of July. Just the two of them for a nice private moment. It’s a lot of work to get the boat all ready to go out so he wasn’t able to convince her to go out on the 3rd 😂

He was successful though on the 4th of July! He convinced her to go out in the morning, just them, which they never do. Brianna had told Greg’s dad that she would mow the lawn that morning before guests showed up for the 4th of July party. So she was a little stressed at the idea of going out on the boat first. But she still didn’t put it together until Greg stopped the boat and was just being kind of quiet. Then she realized omg this is happening! She really had no idea. Finally engaged with 2 doggos and buying a house together, they planned their Gibbet Hill wedding.

Their gorgeous September day started at The Groton Inn where they all got ready. Brianna and Greg had their first look there in a sweet private moment. We headed to Gibbet from there for portraits before their ceremony up at the Bancroft Castle Ruins. Such a cool spot to get married. They had some really cute touches up there for guests. Little bags of chips, custom capri sun style lemonades and iced teas and of course gorgeous florals by Kerianne Nelson FLORA. Brianna’s mom/bestie walked her down the aisle which I just loved. They had a really sweet ceremony and Greg’s sister gave a great speech with lost of basketball metaphors for Greg.

Obviously it’s a must to do more portraits up on Gibbet Hill and at the castle ruins. It really gives it that fairytale feel. Brianna and her mom had custom denim jackets for a cute photo op. Brianna’s said “Mrs. Ives” and her mom’s said “finally” when she popped her collar! SO CUTE! Back down at the venue, it was set up like I’d never seen before. Because of Covid restrictions, they had to have their reception on the deck at the barn rather than inside per usual. They hired Dahlia & May to hang drapes mixed with Kerianne’s stunning florals and the deck was a dream! Might be my new favorite set up at Gibbet Hill. It was simple and classic with lots of whites and pinks and eucalyptus. Soooo pretty.

A lovely first dance, parent dances, lots of chatting and honestly some of the best food ever was the perfect ending to Brianna & Greg’s dreamy wedding day. Cheers to living happily ever after 🥂
