Tops’l Farm Wedding: Meg & Sam

This gorgeous Tops’l Farm Wedding was the perfect ending to my annual Acadia vacation. I really try to stick with my planned time off and really enjoy my vacations when I take them. If your a business owner I’m sure you know it can be hard to stop working sometimes. BUT, when a really bad ass artist with the same last name as you is getting married on the last day of your vacation AND it’s on the way home. I mean, you have to right? I was actually considering myself booked for the year too but once I had the zoom call with Meg I was so excited about their day.

This all came to be when I commented on a photo on her business Instagram page, La Marée Art. She makes these beautiful cheeseboards and more and I just love them so much. She ended up messaging me saying “Hey, cool last name! I’m actually getting married in August and still looking for a photographer!” Meant to be man! Meant to be!

Meg & Sam met at a lobster bake. Sam was the one bringing the lobsters and he was late. Everyone was like where the fuck is lobster guy? Eventually Sam showed up with a 5 gallon bucket full of lobsters. I actually photographed Meg & Sam’s rehearsal dinner as well and everyone was talking about Sam being an awesome guy. He is always late (even to his first look), but gets people out of their shell and is always up for an adventure and a good time. They really stressed his awesome dance moves, which I got to witness myself.

Like I just said, Sam was a little late to their first look. The girls were all ready, Meg and their little frenchie, Junebug were both in their wedding dresses. Meg’s was to die for, the bow in the back!! Ahhhh. So gorgeous. Meg was getting a little worried about what was taking Sam so long, Meg was so anxious to see him. Sam was reading the note Meg wrote for him and was tearing up and needed a moment. I think that answer made Meg feel a tiny bit better. Once they finally saw each other it was big hugs and lots of emotions from Meg this time. I just love a first look!

They had a lovely, emotional ceremony in the garden under the big apple tree. These two had me both crying and laughing behind my camera. “I wanted to sing you a song but you always turn the volume up when I sing.” Then Meg kind of sang you are my sunshine. And something about Sam being a sauce man always making sauces and making Meg try them. The recessional was to the Austin Power’s theme song. I just adore these two. They even had their first dance to “Let’s Get It On.” They almost did a John legend song but changed last minute, I think they made the right choice.

Meg’s dad (Mr. Surette!) was so sweet too. Everyone, including me…again…was in tears. He listed out all of Meg’s accomplishments growing up like getting to the top of the rope in gym class when she was 6. The sports she played, her successful business but he is the most proud just telling people SHE’S HIS DAUGHTER. CUE THE TEARS. Lots of jokes about Sam’s family liking Meg more than him and an epic band putting Sam’s famous dance moves on display and the night was coming to an end for me. And my vacation. Wishing you all the happiness Meg & Sam!
