Downtown Newburyport and Plum Island are two of my very favorite places to visit on the North Shore of Boston, especially in the summertime! When Kasey and Dylan chose this location for their engagement photos I was pumped!
Playful Downtown Newburyport Engagement Photos
We started their session by meeting up in downtown Newburyport. Their pup Teddy came along for the first shots! He’s so cute and looked right at me when I had the little tennis ball. Kasey always said she wanted a dog so her parents got Teddy for her as a graduation present! She started dating Dylan just six months later, so they’ve always been a little family.
It wasn’t super crowded downtown, which was nice, but they were definitely a bit nervous at first. Especially Dylan! There were too many people for him, but he did it! It’s super normal for couples to feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, which is why I always recommend an engagement session before your wedding day! We walked around and found a more secluded spot down by the water. They were starting to get a bit more comfortable and I love the waterfront backdrop over there. Kasey and Dylan are super cute! Look at the photos and wouldn’t even know they were nervous!
Plum Island Beach Engagement Photos
Next, we hopped in the car and took a short drive over to Plum Island Beach for part two of their engagement session. The light was SO NICE as the sun began to set! By then all their nerves were mostly gone. Kasey and Dylan got playful, spun around, and stuck their feet in the water as I snapped pictures of them just being themselves! At the end, they popped a bottle of Veuve and had a champagne toast to celebrate all that is to come! It was such a good time!
Their Proposal
Kasey and Dylan never go into Boston for a night out. When Dylan suggested it, Kasey had some suspicions a proposal may be coming since they had been together for five years. They spent the night going ice skating, going out to dinner, and looking at all the Christmas lights. The end of the night came and Kasey thought a proposal wasn’t happening after all. They went back to their hotel room for the night. When Kasey opened the door there were rose petals all over the room and he got down on one knee and popped the question. Kasey said yes, of course, and about time!! Dylan sweetly had a projector and a slideshow of photos set up in the room for them to watch! They’re Newport Wedding at The Bohlin is going to be one for the books!
In Kasey’s words, “THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything last night!!!! We (especially Dylan 😂) were nervous at first but by the end felt so comfortable and more natural. We just kept saying how much fun it was on our way home. I can’t wait to see how they turn out and we are so excited to have you as our photographer 🙂 thank you again you are awesome!!! :)”
