Elegant Martha's Vineyard Wedding - Sarah Surette Photography

Courtney and Will had the perfect Martha’s Vineyard wedding at Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs, MA! I am completely obsessed with Martha’s Vineyard. This island just off the coast of Cape Cod has all of the coastal grandma vibes and it is just so beautiful. It is only accessible by boat or plane so it makes it such a fun place to visit in the summer months!

In the summer of 2023, I think it rained almost every single weekend. While it rained all day on the mainland of Massachusetts, we didn’t get any on the Vineyard. During Courtney and Will’s engagement session we were battling with the rain, but I am like a lucky charm for good weather on wedding days. I was thrilled they had a nice day!

We started the day with the ladies getting ready at a nearby Airbnb. They were already ahead of schedule with hair and makeup already done when I arrived. The girls had plenty of time to eat some sandwiches and sip on Aperol spritzes in their Martha’s Vineyard PJs while I did flat-lay photos upstairs. Courtney’s invitation designer had a whole extra suite for me to photograph AND the florist gave us some loose blooms to use! This really makes all the difference in your detail photos!!

After some getting ready portraits, Courtney’s sisters helped her get into her beautiful dress. We did a sweet first look with her dad before heading over to the venue.

Will and his groomsmen were already at the venue getting ready when we arrived. After some portraits of the groom (and their pup Maple of course), we set Will up for his first look with Courtney out near the ceremony space. He looked so thrilled to see her! After having a little while to take it all in, they privately read their vows to each other. The moment was full of tears, laughter, and lots of nods to their fur baby.

Before the ceremony, we spent some time taking portraits of Courtney and Will and their wedding party. I loved photographing the bridesmaids! They all had unique mismatched navy dresses that looked incredible together with their bouquets. Will’s uncle officiated their wedding ceremony. He could not stop saying nice things about them as a couple and how fantastic they were as individuals!

After the ceremony, we got to take the golf carts around the course for husband and wife portraits! They have some really pretty spots overlooking the ocean. Since it was a Martha’s Vineyard wedding we had to get the ocean in the background of some of the photos!

I was so excited to photograph the details in the reception tent! It was my favorite kind – a sailcloth tent! Everything was absolutely stunning. The florist framed the entrance to the tent with a gorgeous floral design and the head table was filled with arrangements and tall candles. Each guest table was named a different town on Martha’s Vineyard that was meaningful to them as a couple, which was such a unique detail. After dinner, the DJ had the dance floor packed all night! We had an amazing time celebrating Courtney and Will! Congratulations!
