When Nicole and Alec reached out about their engagement session in Boston’s North End, I couldn’t have been more excited! This charming neighborhood is one of my favorite spots as a Boston engagement photographer. With cobblestone streets, historic brick buildings, and views of the waterfront, it’s the perfect backdrop for romantic and timeless photos.
Nicole and Alec met through mutual friends and have been inseparable for the past four years. Their relationship started simply, with their first date being a casual night watching a Pat’s game at Alec’s apartment. For their second date, they stepped it up a notch and headed to the North End for dinner. So, it felt obvious for them to take their engagement photos in the neighborhood where so many of their early memories were made.
Alec proposed last summer during a weekend getaway to Portland, Maine. They spent the day exploring the city and visited one of their favorite spots: the Portland Head Light. As Nicole admired the sweeping ocean views, Alec got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course, she said yes!
A Perfect November Afternoon
November in Boston can be hit or miss weather-wise, but we lucked out with a crisp, sunny day. Ok, it was a little chilly, not gonna lie… Nicole and Alec brought along their adorable dog, Bailey, who instantly stole the show. Nicole is absolutely obsessed with Bailey—and honestly, who can blame her? She’s the cutest pup ever and even sported a little “My mom said Yes!” bandana for the occasion.
We started the session in North Square. They admittedely felt a little awkward in front of the camera at first, but that didn’t last long. With a few jokes and some goofy moments, they quickly loosened up. By the time we reached the waterfront, they were naturals! Their playful energy made for some truly joyful piggyback ride photos.
Nicole and Alec clearly have so much fun together. Their sense of humor is infectious, and they had me laughing the entire session. Whether they were cracking jokes, playfully teasing each other, or giggling over Bailey’s antics, their joy was contagious.
Looking Ahead to the Big Day
Nicole and Alec are tying the knot next September at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf, and I can already tell their wedding is going to be incredible. The Long Wharf’s waterfront location perfectly matches their love for coastal New England.
As a Boston wedding photographer, it’s always so fun to work with couples like Nicole and Alec. Seeing their connection and capturing their story is what makes this job so special. It was also such a treat to see Nicole again since she was a bridesmaid in one of my past weddings. I love when my clients come full circle and I get to be part of multiple chapters in their lives.
