Picture Your Perfect Beach Wedding
Picture this: soft sand under your feet, salt air on your skin, and ocean waves in the background as you say “I do.”
That’s what you get at Wychmere Beach Club.
This Cape Cod venue sits right on the water in Harwich Port. It’s one of the best spots in New England to get married. I’ve photographed a couple of weddings here, and every single time I’m blown away by how beautiful it is.
In this post, I’ll show you what makes Wychmere so special. You’ll get real insider tips from someone who has worked there before. Plus, I’ll share photo inspiration and advice to help you plan your dream day.

What Makes Wychmere Beach Club So Special
Wychmere sits on Nantucket Sound in Harwich Port. The views stretch out across the water for miles. You can see sailboats, blue skies, and that perfect Cape Cod horizon.
The whole place feels like classic Cape Cod but with a modern touch. Think white shiplap, soft blues, and lots of natural light. It’s fancy without being stuffy.
What sets it apart? You get a private beach just for your wedding. The staff handles everything from start to finish. And the whole property feels polished and ready for photos.
Every time I shoot here, I remind myself that yes, this light really is this good. No filter needed.
The Ceremony and Reception Spaces
Let me walk you through each area so you can picture your day.
The Hydrangea Lawn
This is where most couples have their ceremony. It’s a green lawn that faces the ocean. White chairs, an arch or arbor, and that view behind you.
Pro tip: Schedule your ceremony about two hours before sunset. You’ll get great light during the vows and perfect golden hour right after.
The Harbor Room
This is the main reception space. Big windows let in tons of natural light. The decor is coastal and clean with soft grays and whites.
Tables fit easily without feeling cramped. The dance floor has plenty of room. And those windows mean your photos stay bright and clear even as the sun goes down.
I love shooting in here because the light bounces beautifully off the walls.
The Dune
This is the rooftop deck. Most couples use it for cocktail hour. It’s open air with ocean views and a modern feel.
The Dune is also my favorite spot for sunset portraits. We can step away from guests for ten minutes and get stunning shots with the water behind you.
Pro tip: Build in 20 minutes here during golden hour. Your photographer will thank you.
Why Couples Choose Wychmere
Here’s what makes couples fall in love with this venue:
Your guests can stay right there. Wychmere has rooms on site. People can walk from their room to your wedding. No driving, no stress.
The staff takes care of everything. From planning to the day itself, the team knows what they’re doing. You won’t feel like you’re managing things alone.
The food is really good. I’ve heard this from couples and guests over and over. The catering team nails it. Even my vendor meal is great!
It feels exclusive. They do host multiple weddings per day but they do their best to not let you know it.
Behind the Lens: My Photographer Tips
Best Photo Spots
- The beach path – Wooden walkway through the dunes. Beautiful any time of day.
- The dock – Water on both sides, great for sunset shots.
- The rooftop deck – Open sky, ocean view, perfect for portraits.
- White hallways inside – Clean and bright, great for detail shots.
- The field across the harbor – Off Main Street, this little spot is perfect for first looks and wedding party photos. The light is often softer here on bright, harsh days. Some couples use it when they’re staying off property and want photos done before their arrival time at Wychmere.
Timeline for Perfect Light
- First Look: So you can get round 1 of portraits done, get family photos and wedding party done
- Ceremony: Two hours before sunset
- Cocktail hour: Guests enjoy drinks while you do round 2 of couple portraits
- Sunset portraits: Last 20 minutes of golden hour
What Looks Amazing Here
The white walls and natural light make any color pop. Soft coastal tones look beautiful here. So do bold pinks, corals, and bright florals.
I’ve shot weddings with simple greenery and weddings with huge floral installations. Both look stunning. The venue works with your style, not against it.
Want over the top details? The clean backdrop shows them off. Prefer simple and classic? That works too.
Don’t Forget This
Bring clips for your veil. The ocean breeze is real. I’ve seen too many veils almost fly away mid-ceremony.
Also, wear shoes you can walk on sand in. Or bring flip flops for portraits on the beach.
Is Wychmere Right For You?
This venue is perfect if you want:
- A coastal, New England vibe
- Beautiful photos without trying too hard
- A full service experience where the staff handles details
- Guests to stay and relax on site
It might not be your fit if you’re dreaming of:
- A rustic barn wedding
- Mountain or forest views
- A super casual backyard feel
Wychmere is polished and coastal. If that sounds like you, this could be your place.
Real Wedding Inspiration
I’ve photographed beautiful weddings at Wychmere. Each couple makes it their own.
One couple went with all white flowers and greenery. Simple and classic.
Another chose soft pinks and creams that matched the sunset perfectly.
The venue gives you a gorgeous backdrop. You just add your style.

How many guests can Wychmere Beach Club hold?
Wychmere has three different event spaces. The Harbor Room holds up to 300 guests. Dune holds up to 240 guests. The Ocean Room holds up to 160 guests. Each space is separate, so your wedding feels private and exclusive.
