Proposal

Yarmouth Proposal Photos: Libby & Reid

Cape Cod holds a special kind of meaning for couples who feel deeply tied to the area. The familiar shoreline, soft summer air, and quiet beaches create an easy setting for moments that matter. Libby and Reid’s proposal in Yarmouth on Cape Cod felt personal from the start, shaped by intention, history, and love for a place that has always felt like home.

This proposal was not about surprise or spectacle. It was about comfort, clarity, and being fully present. Every detail of the day reflected that energy, from the location near Libby’s childhood home to the quiet way the moment unfolded along the water’s edge.

Yarmouth offered exactly what the day needed. Calm. Space. A sense of grounding.

Why Cape Cod Was Always the Right Choice

Libby grew up on Cape Cod. Did I mention she’s my cousin?

It is where she spent most of her life and where many of her favorite memories live. When she and Reid began talking about marriage, she already knew she wanted to get engaged there. Cape Cod felt right. It felt like her.

Libby is someone who knows what she wants and says it clearly. She hates surprises, and she never tried to hide that. She wanted a proposal that felt thoughtful and planned. Reid respected that fully, which says a lot about their relationship.

They now live in Florida together, but Cape Cod still holds a deep pull for Libby. Fourth of July weekend felt like the perfect time. They would already be visiting family. They would be driving, which meant they could bring their dog Marmalade. That detail mattered more than most.

This was never meant to be a grand reveal. It was meant to feel right.

Planning a Proposal That Felt True to Them

Reid reached out with the goal of making sure everything went the way Libby wanted. He had general ideas and wanted guidance on timing and location. Early planning focused on quiet beaches that felt personal rather than busy or crowded. Especially around the holiday week.

At first, planning happened with help from Libby’s brother Andrew. The goal was to find a location that felt intimate and meaningful while staying simple. Yarmouth offered several options that fit that vision.

At some point, Reid made the decision to include Libby in the planning. He knew keeping a secret would not work and did not want the proposal to feel stressful or confusing for her. That decision spoke volumes. It showed trust, respect, and honesty.

Libby wanted to feel prepared. She wanted to feel like herself. She also wanted to know the moment would be photographed so she could truly relax and enjoy it. And wear a cute dress OBVIOUSLY.

That clarity shaped the rest of the day.

The Morning of the Proposal

The morning moved slowly in the best way. Libby took time getting ready, knowing exactly what the day held. There was no guessing. No rushing. She chose an outfit that felt like her and fit the beach setting well. And honestly we were all ready earlier than expected. Standing around with champage we decided to just head out instead of anxiously wait for golden hour.

We all drove together to the chosen spot near the water, a quiet stretch of beach close to Libby’s childhood home. The area felt peaceful, with gentle waves and minimal foot traffic. Just a small family hanging out there on the beach.

A Quiet Cape Cod Beach in Yarmouth

Libby and Reid walked along the edge of the water together. The moment unfolded naturally, without distraction.

When Reid got down on one knee, it felt quiet and real. Libby knew it was coming, yet the emotion still hit hard. She cried. I did too! The meaning of the moment did not depend on surprise. It came from intention.

A Ring Designed with Purpose

Libby designed her own engagement ring. Every detail reflected her style and taste. This choice matched her personality completely.

She knew what she liked and took the time to shape it herself. The result felt personal and thoughtful, not rushed or generic.

Designing the ring removed uncertainty and allowed the proposal to focus on the moment rather than the reveal. Libby could stay present and enjoy what mattered most.

The ring looked beautiful in the soft beach light.

Marmalade Joins the Celebration

Soon after the proposal, Andrew and his girlfriend Sam arrived with Marmalade. The timing was perfect. Marmalade immediately brought joy and energy into the moment.

Marmalade has a special story of her own. Libby is deeply involved in dog fostering in South Florida, volunteering her time to help pups find safe homes. Marmalade was meant to be a foster. Buttttt they ended up keeping her they loved her so much.

Including Marmalade in the photos felt meaningful and sweet. She is family.

Dogs often help couples relax after an emotional moment. Marmalade did just that. Tail wagging, sandy paws, and happy energy lightened the mood and brought laughter.

Including a dog in an engagement session adds personality and warmth that cannot be forced.

Engagement Photos Around Meaningful Spots

After the proposal, the day moved into a relaxed engagement session. The goal was not to overdo it but to capture a few meaningful moments while the emotion was still fresh.

The beach offered several photo spots without requiring much walking. Soft sand, open water views, and gentle curves along the shoreline kept things simple.

A few nearby locations held personal meaning for Libby, which added depth to the session. These spots felt familiar to her and tied back to her life on the Cape.

The session stayed light and casual. No long poses. No pressure. Just movement, connection, and small moments between them.

Eventually, the heat and tiny beach flies signaled it was time to wrap things up. Summer sessions on Cape Cod always come with small challenges, and this one was no exception.

In the shuffle between locations, my sandals were left behind at one of the stops. The exact spot quickly became a mystery.

Thankfully I keep some pedicure flip flops in my trunk. And I needed them for later plans in Boston.

Celebrating with Family on Cape Cod

The celebration continued at a local Cape Cod restaurant where family members waited to meet them. Another reason I needed shoes!

Being surrounded by family made the day feel complete. It honored the importance of connection and tradition, especially for a Cape Cod Proposal rooted in personal history.

Libby and Reid’s Love Story

Libby and Reid met in the summer of 2021 at a birthday party in Miami. The connection felt immediate and worth exploring.

At the time, distance stood in the way. They dated long distance for a period before Libby made the move to Florida the following year. From that point on, they became inseparable.

Their relationship grew through shared routines and simple joys. They enjoy cooking together, beach days, board games, and weekend trips to new cities.

Music plays a role in their relationship as well. They share a love for Leon Bridges, which adds its own soundtrack to their story.

Marmalade is rarely far from their side. She brings comfort and laughter into their daily lives.

They will be married in September 2027 and plan to return to Cape Cod for their wedding. And I’m so excited to be a guest!

Engagement Photos That Feel Natural and Relaxed

After a proposal, emotions stay close to the surface. That energy creates strong engagement photos with minimal effort.

Cape Cod Engagement Photos benefit from simple backdrops that let the couple stand out. Water, sand, and open sky support this style well.

Movement helps keep sessions relaxed. Walking, holding hands, and pausing naturally creates real moments.

Including personal details like a dog or meaningful locations adds depth without adding stress.

Choosing a Massachusetts Photographer for Your Proposal

Working with a Massachusetts Photographer who understands Cape Cod matters. Local knowledge helps with location choice, lighting changes, and seasonal conditions.

Understanding how Cape Cod shifts during holidays and summer weekends helps avoid crowds and timing issues.

A photographer familiar with proposals knows how to stay discreet while capturing the full story.

This experience helps moments unfold without interruption.

Looking Ahead to a Cape Cod Wedding

Libby and Reid will return to Cape Cod for their wedding in 2027. It will bring their story full circle, back to the place where their engagement began.

Their proposal reflected who they are as a couple. Honest. Thoughtful. Rooted in love and family.

Cape Cod provided the perfect setting for that chapter. This Cape Cod Proposal was never about surprise or performance. It was about intention, comfort, and shared understanding.

Yarmouth offered a quiet beach and soft light. Libby and Reid brought trust and love. Marmalade brought joy. Together, it all came together in a way that felt true and lasting.

For couples planning a Cape Cod Proposal or Cape Cod Engagement Photos, this day serves as a reminder that meaning matters more than spectacle.

And those are the moments that last.
