A Light, Beachy, and Joy-Filled Coastal Wedding in Orleans, MA
There are some wedding days that just feel easy in the best way. Cara and Jason’s Cape Cod Wedding on September 20, 2025 was exactly that. Light, laid back, full of heart, and set against one of the prettiest coastal backdrops in New England.
From a bright church ceremony to a beachside Tented Wedding at Nauset Beach Inn, every part of their day felt personal and intentional. It reflected who they are, where they met, and what matters most to them. And honestly, it was one of those days where everything just clicked. The energy, the light, the people, all of it.
If you’re planning a Coastal Wedding on Cape Cod, this one is a perfect example of how to keep things elevated but still relaxed and true to you.
A Love Story That Started on Cape Cod
Cara and Jason’s story feels very Cape Cod in the best way.
They met at the Orleans Yacht Club where Jason was bartending. Cara was brought there by her dad, who had casually mentioned there was a cute new bartender at the Yacht Club. Most of the crowd leaned older, so she stood out to Jason right away. He even asked a coworker about her, which says a lot.
Their first dates were straight out of a summer on the Cape. Drinks at The Beachcomber in Wellfleet, then a drive-in movie the next night to watch Grease. It was his first time seeing it!!
They spent some time long distance after that. Cara was a professional ballet dancer and had to head back to Texas. But the Cape brought them together, and it also became the place where their story continued into marriage.
So choosing to have their Cape Cod Wedding here was not just about the view. It was about meaning.
A Bright and Relaxed Start at Nauset Beach Inn
Cara got ready at Nauset Beach Inn, which also hosted their reception.
The morning felt calm. No rush, no stress. Just Cara, her closest friends and family, and a space that made everything feel easy.
She wore a gown from Flair Boston that felt both classic and fashion forward. It fit the coastal setting perfectly while still feeling elevated. Her look came together with soft, romantic hair and makeup by Olivia Marie Makeup, which held up beautifully throughout the day.
Hydrangeas were everywhere. If you’ve ever been to Cape Cod, you know they are part of the look. They added that soft blue and white palette that ties so well into a Coastal Wedding without trying too hard.
Jason kept things simple and skipped getting ready photos, which actually helped keep the timeline relaxed. It gave more space to focus on Cara’s morning and the details that matter.
A Church Ceremony Filled with Natural Light
The ceremony took place at St. Joan of Arc Church, and it was one of the brightest churches I’ve ever photographed in.
That matters more than people think.
The church had skylight windows that brought in soft, natural light from above. It made the entire space feel open and warm. From a photo standpoint, it allowed for clean, true-to-color images from almost every angle.
That’s not always the case in churches, so it stood out right away.
Cara and Jason chose not to do a first look, which meant the ceremony held that classic moment of seeing each other for the first time down the aisle. It felt emotional and real.
After the ceremony, we took a few family photos inside the church. The light made it easy to move quickly without sacrificing quality, which kept things smooth for everyone.
Returning to Where It All Began
After the ceremony, we made a stop that meant a lot to both of them.
The Orleans Yacht Club.
This is where they first met, so it felt right to go back for portraits. It added a layer of story to their wedding photos that you just can’t recreate anywhere else.
And then came Cara’s red Mini Cooper.
It’s her pride and joy, and we used it for a set of portraits that also mirrored a photo of her parents on their wedding day. It was fun, personal, and a little nostalgic without feeling staged.
These are the kinds of moments that make a wedding feel like yours. Not just pretty, but meaningful.
Beachside Wedding Party Photos
From there, we headed to the beach for wedding party and family photos.
The light was soft, the breeze was just enough, and everyone was relaxed. A smaller wedding party always helps keep things moving, and it also creates a more intimate feel in photos.
The beach gave us that clean, open backdrop that works so well for a Cape Cod Wedding. Nothing distracting, just soft sand, ocean tones, and people who are genuinely happy to be there.
Cara and Jason’s portraits on the beach felt natural and easy. No over posing, just simple guidance and letting them be themselves.
A Coastal Cocktail Hour Done Right
Cocktail hour took place outdoors back at Nauset Beach Inn, and it was exactly what you’d hope for at a Tented Wedding on Cape Cod.
Fresh oysters, a well set bar, and that golden hour light that makes everything look better. Jason couldn’t help himself and hopped behind the bar to serve a few drinks to some guests. Luckily he didn’t stuck there for too long.
This is also where guests started to really settle in. Shoes off, jackets loosened, conversations flowing.
It felt like a true coastal celebration.
Inside the Tent: A Classic Cape Cod Reception
The reception took place under a tent by UnderCover Tent & Party, and it was the kind of Tented Wedding setup that feels both polished and relaxed.
The florals by Fancy Flowers by Meredith were bright, full, and thoughtfully placed.
The stationery by Skip To My Lou Design added another layer of personalization. It matched the tone of the day and carried the design through from start to finish.
This is where thoughtful design choices make a difference. When each piece connects, the whole day feels more intentional.
A First Dance to Remember
Cara and Jason’s first dance was to “La Vie en Rose” by Louis Armstrong.
Cara is a ballet dancer, so they choreographed their dance. And it showed.
It was graceful, emotional, and honestly hard to look away from. The kind of moment where the room goes quiet because everyone is watching. Especially during their epic lift!
It felt true to her background. Not performative, just meaningful.
Heartfelt Toasts and a Perfect Sunset
The toasts were full of emotion. The kind that makes people laugh and tear up at the same time.
As the sun started to set, we stepped outside for a few quick portraits. The sky turned soft pink, which doesn’t happen every day, and it gave us one last set of images that felt calm and romantic.
These quick sunset moments are always worth it. Just a few minutes can completely shift the look of your gallery.
A Dance Floor That Stayed Full
Once the party started, it didn’t slow down.
Cape Tunes kept the dance floor packed, and Cara made sure there was plenty of Taylor Swift in the mix. That alone set the tone.
At one point, “I’m a Believer” by Smash Mouth came on, and the entire room was singing. Loud. No hesitation. Even as a photographer, it’s hard not to get pulled into that energy. At one point, a guest came up and said I looked like I was having the best time working. And it was true.
That’s what a good wedding feels like.
A Cape Cod Wedding That Felt Personal from Start to Finish
What made Cara and Jason’s Cape Cod Wedding stand out was not just the setting.
It was how personal everything felt.
From returning to the place they met, to including her car, to choosing a venue that reflects their story, every part of the day had meaning behind it.
What It’s Like to Work Together
After the wedding, Cara shared some kind words that really stuck.
She talked about how the photos captured both the moments they expected and the ones they didn’t even think about. That’s always the goal.
She also mentioned how the process leading up to the wedding helped everything come together. Building a timeline that works for both the couple and the vendor team makes a big difference.
And one of my favorite things she said was how I blended in during the day. Guests noticed it too.
When you don’t feel like there’s a camera in your face all day, you can actually enjoy your wedding. And that shows in the photos.
Planning Your Own Cape Cod Wedding
If you’re thinking about having your own Cape Cod Wedding, there are a few things worth keeping in mind.
Choose a venue that works with your style. Natural light, open space, and a strong setting will make everything easier.
Think about what parts of your story you can include. It doesn’t have to be big. Even small details can add meaning.
Keep your timeline realistic. Give yourself space to enjoy the day.
And if you’re planning a Tented Wedding, lean into the coastal setting. Soft colors, natural textures, and florals like hydrangeas always work well here.
A Day That Will Last for Years
Six months after the wedding, Cara reached out again after going through her full gallery celebrating six months of marriage.
She said it felt like the day all over again.
That’s always the goal. Not just photos that look good, but photos that bring you back.
Cara and Jason’s Coastal Wedding was one of those days that stays with you. Light, joyful, and full of moments that felt real.
And honestly, those are the ones that matter most.
