Amber and Connor’s wedding at The Barn at Gibbet Hill was the perfect blend of elegance and simplicity. Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA is one of my favorite Boston area venues! As you pull into the venue you feel transported by the romantic barn and vast rolling hill landscape. It was perfect for their late summer wedding with incredible floral arrangements!
Their Love Story
These two grew up together and have known each other since childhood. They briefly tested out dating in high school, but it wasn’t until after college that Connor took a leap and reached out to Amber to see if she had New Year’s Eve plans. They ended up going out with some friends and had a great time. He asked her out on a date immediately after and everything just felt right between the two. They knew from then on it was going to be a long-term thing!
When the time came, and Connor was ready to propose, he had no idea what kind of engagement ring Amber would like. You see, she doesn’t usually wear jewelry so they decided to go to the jewelry store to pick out rings together. Therefore, Amber had an idea a proposal was coming and she thought maybe Thanksgiving time he’d ask. Instead, he decided on New Year’s Day last-minute surprise in the Boston Public Garden! He made sure to have some friends hide to take a few photos to capture the moment!
The Barn at Gibbet Hill Wedding
Amber and Connor got ready separately with their bridal parties at the Groton Inn. This charming hotel is just a short drive to Gibbet Hill and the perfect getting-ready location. Amber selected a bright pink color palette – perfect for a later summer wedding. I loved the florals (per usual!) and the bright pinks in the bouquets and arbor complimented the bridesmaid’s dresses perfectly. Even Connor wore a floral tie that matched the vibe of the day! We had their first look at the Inn and took some portraits before heading to Gibbet Hill for the majority of their photos before the ceremony.
Their ceremony took place outside on the lawn overlooking the beautiful landscape. Amber walked down the aisle with her dad as their family and friends looked on. After a moving ceremony, they were officially husband and wife! While their guests enjoyed cocktail hour out on the porch, we took a walk up the hill to take some sunset pictures. It was well worth it!
I love the simple and elegant decor Amber and Connor choose for their reception space. The barn itself is gorgeous and does not need a lot of decorations. Amber wore a cute pair of heels during the day but changed into her custom Converse sneakers with their initials and wedding date stitched into them during the reception. Congratulations to this super sweet couple!
