Rachel & John’s Backyard Wedding was a lovely little intimate affair. Instead of the big wedding they had planned at The Barn on Benson’s Pond, they opted to get married at their own home. Something a lot of couples are doing in the midst of a global pandemic. I think it’s a little extra special though to get married at your own home with your absolute closest family and friends. Love is very much not canceled. It was all there.
I still got to photograph lots of little details. They added a little update to their original wedding invitation suite that said “Nothing Fancy, Just Love.” It also included their magnetic Save the Date from their engagement session. Don’t you just love a Save The Date magnet? So convenient for the fridge! Gorgeous rings of course, John’s with a little clover engraved on his. And a lacy pair of TOMS shoes. A girl after my own heart. I own so many pairs of TOMS. Oh and Rachel’s bouquet from Sweet Talk Floral! I’m still not over it.
Rachel and her bridesmaids, including her auntie (so sweet), drank some champagne in their robes upstairs while the guys were all hiding in the basement. Rachel’s mom and her bridesmaids helped her into her dress shortly before it was time to walk down the aisle.
With just a few rows and John waiting at the front, Rachel walked down looking as beautiful as ever with her dad. A really sweet start to their beautiful little ceremony. Some Covid jokes of course and making the best of a weird situation, they sealed their vows with a kiss and walked back through an aisle of bubbles!
Of course we got some portraits in, arguably the best part of every wedding day. We did one last big group photo of everyone in their custom Rachel & John masks and clinking bottles of Corona before I headed out.
Wishing you guys all the love and happiness!!
