Newport Beach House is one of my favorite Newport wedding venues! I love photographing here because of the beautiful ceremony space, the beach portraits, great natural light, and the amazing staff! I was so thrilled to capture Lindsay and Paul’s wedding day!
Their Love Story
Lindsay and Paul just happened to grow up five minutes from each other in neighboring towns, but never actually met until college. Can you imagine?? When Lindsay transferred to UConn, she initially met Paul one night when they were out at a bar. She ended up studying abroad for her junior year, but when she came back her senior year their friend groups hung out and they started dating. That was now seven years ago and their parents both still live five minutes apart!
On the day Paul was planning to propose, he had lots of surprises up his sleeve! They were planning to do cute fall things with another couple, but they ended up getting Covid. Lindsay and Paul ended up going apple-picking anyway just the two of them. Afterwards, Paul suggested this new winery nearby and she loves wine so she was like, “Heck yeah!” He suggested inviting both of their parents, and she was like mm ok sure sure. She somehow still had no clue what was to come!
Lindsay was holding a bunch of wine bottles and cups for everyone, but Paul kept leading them kind of far away and passing all these open picnic tables. Lindsay was like, “Can you pick one?!” Paul finally selected a gorgeous spot by a pond and he asked her to go for a little walk and let their parents catch up. She was like, “ok let me fill my glass,” and he was like, “no you won’t need to.” At that point, she finally put it together. Her dad was the only one who knew it was coming and was ready with the cell phone for photos! They were all freaking out when he got down on one knee. It turned out their friends didn’t actually have Covid, and they showed up with balloons and stuff to celebrate! So cute!
Coastal Wedding Venue in Newport, Rhode Island
Having beautiful getting-ready photos was important to Lindsay. She found an Airbnb near the Newport Beach House that had great natural light and neutral walls. This really does make a huge difference in how your photos turn out and all of her details were so pretty! I could not take enough flat-lay detail photos! Each of her bridesmaids had fun robes with feathers on the sleeves and drank champagne together to start the day!
Lindsay’s dress and the added sleeves looked so elegant on her. She had lace from her mom’s wedding dress stitched in her veil as well, which was such a special touch. I love the way these getting-ready photos came out! Before the ceremony, Lindsay and Paul had their first look on the sand and we took some wedding party portraits!
Newport Beach House Wedding Photographer
The ceremony space outside the Newport Beach House is simply stunning. It is right on the edge of the beach and surrounded by glass to keep the wind at bay. After the ceremony, we headed back to the beach for more portraits. The glowy light was sooooo pretty! We had perfect hazy beach light and since it was October, there was barely anyone out on the beach. Not only was I freaking out about how gorgeous the light was, but the whole wedding party was too!
As we headed back inside, the staff gave not just Lindsay and Paul, but also ME a pitcher of warm water and a towel to wash off my feet. I didn’t even have to ask and I thought this was so thoughtful and speaks to their amazing staff!
The reception space is a beautiful clean white space with lots of windows for natural lighting. After dinner and toasts, Lindsay changed into a super cute jumpsuit during the reception and the DJ had everyone on the dance floor all night!
