Rachel and John’s Stunning Beauport Hotel Wedding
October 5, 2024, was one of those picture-perfect New England days—clear skies, warm sunshine, and a coastal breeze that made everything feel just right. JK, as lovely as that sounds, it was actually somehow hot in October with little to no breeze! Ok global warming, I see you, hahaha.
A Venue Like No Other
The Beauport Hotel is one of my favorite wedding venues in Massachusetts, and for good reason. With its elegant coastal vibe, incredible ocean views, and versatile spaces, it’s a dream location for any couple. The backlighting on the deck is pure perfection every single time, and it’s even more spectacular during sunset. Even the reception space has huge windows letting in plenty of natural light. Rachel and John took full advantage of everything this venue has to offer, and their photos reflect just how incredible this location truly is.
Getting Ready Moments
Rachel started her day surrounded by her closest friends and family. The room was filled with excitement, champagne, and a playlist of feel-good tunes. One of the funniest parts of the morning was when a tray of champagne glasses arrived. Rachel, who used to work at The Pickled Onion in Beverly, couldn’t resist holding it up like the pro server she was—except this time, she was in her stunning wedding gown! She looked fabulous and we were all cracking up.
Speaking of her gown, Rachel’s dress was an absolute showstopper. The custom floral detailing painted on the back was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It was elegant, unique, and perfectly suited to Rachel’s personality.
A First Look Full of Laughter
Rachel and John decided to do a first look on the balcony overlooking the beach, and it was one of the most memorable moments of the day. John waited patiently, facing the ocean, as Rachel walked up to tap him on the shoulder. But as she approached, she couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Why? She spotted a naked baby playing on the beach! When John turned around, he was already laughing because he’d been watching the baby the whole time while waiting for her. Their laughter was contagious, I was even dying.
Once they’d recovered from their giggles, Rachel and John shared private vows. It was an intimate, emotional exchange that balanced out their lighthearted start. You could just tell these two were meant for each other.
Ceremony Goals
The ceremony took place on the Beauport’s stunning oceanfront deck, with the water glistening behind them. The moment they sealed their marriage with a kiss, they pulled off an epic dip that looked absolutely incredible with the ocean as their backdrop.
Picture-Perfect Portraits
Rachel and John brought total supermodel energy to their portraits. From the classic photos on the deck to the romantic, golden-hour photos on the beach, every image captured their love and connection. October weddings often bring unpredictable weather, but this day felt like summer—hot, sunny, and full of light. Rachel had originally wanted a summer wedding, but John wasn’t keen on sweating through the day. They landed on October, and lucky for Rachel, the weather was exactly what she’d hoped for. Happy wife, happy life, right?
A Party to Remember
Rachel and John’s reception was an absolute blast from start to finish. Their choreographed first dance to “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls was a total surprise to everyone, and it was one of the best first dances I’ve ever seen. The crowd went wild, singing along at the top of their lungs. The band, Brick Park, kept the energy high all night. The dance floor felt like a concert, packed with guests dancing, laughing, and having the time of their lives. It was so crowded, I could barely squeeze in to capture the action! I definitely had to stand on a chair for some of the shots.
The couple’s wedding party was just as fun as they were. During cocktail hour, they gathered for lots of group photos, making sure every friend got in on the memories. Rachel and John’s friends clearly adore them, and it’s easy to see why—these two are simply awesome people.
Fur Baby Details
One of the sweetest touches of the day was how Rachel and John included their beloved dog (“their son”), Louie, in the celebration—even though he couldn’t be there IRL. Their cake topper was an adorable figurine of Louie, and they had custom cocktail napkins with his cute face printed on them.
Why the Beauport Hotel Is a Dream Venue
As a coastal wedding photographer, I’m always excited to shoot at the Beauport Hotel. The venue’s deck and close to perfect lighting is unmatched. The staff is incredibly attentive, ensuring every detail is flawless, and the natural beauty of the location speaks for itself. It’s truly one of the best places to tie the knot in New England.
