Wedding at King’s Hill Inn & Barn

A Romantic Summer Wedding at King’s Hill Inn & Barn: Kelsey & Colby’s Special Day

When you think of a quintessential Maine summer wedding, Kelsey and Colby’s day at King’s Hill Inn & Barn in South Paris, Maine, is the picture-perfect example. Their story, the breathtaking venue, and the vibrant details all came together for a celebration filled with warmth, love, and so much joy. As an inclusive wedding photographer, capturing moments like these is why I love what I do.

A Love Story Years in the Making

Kelsey and Colby knew of each other through family friends for years. In fact, their moms had been scheming to set them up, but both Kelsey and Colby resisted. As fate would have it, they eventually connected on a dating app and decided to meet for a casual drink at a brewery. That’s where everything clicked. After three years of dating, Colby popped the question in one of the most romantic ways imaginable — at sunset on the Otter Cliffs in Acadia National Park. It was their first visit to the area (but one of my favorite places!!), and the moment couldn’t have been more perfect. A few weeks later, Kelsey turned the tables with her own proposal.

King’s Hill Inn & Barn: A Coastal-Maine Gem

Nestled in the hills of South Paris, King’s Hill Inn & Barn is a dream venue for couples looking for a mix of rustic charm and modern elegance. The outdoor ceremony space, complete with a picturesque pergola, set the stage for Kelsey and Colby’s heartfelt vows. The June 1st (first day of Pride month!!) weather surprised everyone with its heat, but the golden sunshine only added to the atmosphere.

The barn itself has twinkling string lights, exposed beams, and space for dancing the night away. The venue also offers countless photo opportunities, from the lush gardens to the open fields. And golden hour? It was absolutely stunning for Kelsey and Colby’s portraits.

Thoughtful Details That Made the Day Unforgettable

Every wedding has those special touches that make it uniquely the couple’s own, and Kelsey and Colby’s day was brimming with them. The color palette of sage green, dusty rose, and gold accents brought a fresh, romantic vibe to every corner of the venue. From the pastel stationery—which I loved working with for flatlay shots—to the floral arrangements by Bad Rabbit Flowers, every detail elevated the aesthetic. I was so glad they had lots of stationery to work with and I got some extra loose blooms to add to their flaylays too! Makes all the difference.

The reception tablescapes were just gorgeous. Pink water glasses and wood-scripted name placements created a warm, inviting setting for their guests. And speaking of guests, the wedding party—made up entirely of Kelsey & Colby’s best girls—was an absolute blast to work with. The energy and camaraderie among this group of women were infectious, and their support for Kelsey & Colby throughout the day was so heartwarming.

A Day Full of Emotion and Celebration

The reception brought heartfelt moments. The toasts—delivered by their closest friends and family—were some of the sweetest I’ve heard. I was definitely tearing up behind my camera! It’s clear that Kelsey and Colby have built a community of love and support around them, and their wedding day was a celebration of that.

Their first dance to “Sweet Symphony” by Joy Oladokun and Chris Stapleton was so sweet. Under the soft glow of string lights, they swayed together, completely lost in the moment.

Incredible Food and Sweet Treats

One thing guests will never forget about this wedding? The food! Dinner, catered by Fire & Co., featured some of the best wood-fired pizza I’ve ever tasted. The variety of toppings and flavors ensured that everyone had something they loved.

And then there was dessert. The spread was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to Baked with Love. Mini trifles, cookies, cakes, and other sweet treats adorned the table, looking almost too good to eat (but trust me, they were delicious!).

Golden Hour Perfection

As the day turned to evening, we snuck Kelsey and Colby away for some golden hour portraits. The light was pure magic, casting a warm glow in the garden and highlighting the couple’s natural chemistry. These moments are always some of my favorites to capture.

A Joyful Reunion

One of the most fun parts of the day was the Bates College tradition. Kelsey and her bridal party, many of whom also attended Bates, gathered for a group photo to commemorate their shared alma mater. It was a special moment, made even more meaningful because I had photographed one of her bridesmaid’s weddings back in 2020. Seeing familiar faces and reconnecting with past clients made the day even sweeter.

Your Inclusive Wedding Photographer

Kelsey and Colby’s wedding was a celebration of love, connection, and joy. Being a part of their day and capturing these moments is why I’m passionate about being an inclusive wedding photographer. Whether you’re looking for a bright and colorful wedding photographer or a New England wedding photographer who’ll make you feel at ease in front of the camera, I’d love to be part of your story.

Congratulations again to Kelsey and Colby! Your wedding day was unforgettable, and I’m so honored to have been a part of it.
